Discover the snow-covered landscape of the Bernau high valley with an ascent to the Krunkelbach hut at 1,294 metres above sea level and back.
Aussichtsreich / Geologische Highlights
The snowshoe tour starts at the eastern edge of the village of Hof. It takes you on a circular route via the Krunkelbachhütte, the Scheibenfelsen and back again. Along the way, you have beautiful views of the wide, open Bernau high valley. From the starting point, you trudge through partly open countryside and forest through the deep snow up to the Krunkelbachhütte. It is located at an altitude of 1,294 metres and is one of the highest mountain inns in the Black Forest. After the tough ascent, you have more than earned a break up here with a cosy refreshment stop. Afterwards, you can hike down to the Scheibenfelsen rock with renewed energy and from there continue into the valley. The route then follows flat paths back to the starting point in Hof.
Clothing adapted to the weather and good snowshoes are essential.
Snowshoe trails are specially signposted hiking trails, away from cleared hiking paths and cross-country ski trails, through unspoilt winter landscapes. These routes can only be travelled with snowshoes. Safe walking on uneven terrain is a prerequisite!
