The DSV ski patrol

Reliable, fast, committed: the DSV ski patrol ensures our safety

For more than 35 years, the DSV ski patrol has been on duty in German ski resorts to prevent accidents, provide first aid and protect the environment - including, of course, at Feldberg.

Long before winter sports enthusiasts hit the slopes, the men and women of the DSV ski patrol are already on duty in their bright red jackets: they are the first on the slopes and the last to leave them in the evening. In winter, the "Red Angels" ensure the safety of winter sports enthusiasts in the ski resorts.

Tasks of the DSV ski patrol
The primary goal of the DSV ski patrol is to prevent accidents through preventive measures. These include:

  • The control of the proper condition of slopes, slope signs as well as drag lift tracks.
  • The daily last run on the slopes after the cessation of the transport operation.
  • Positive influence on skiers who, by their behavior, endanger themselves and others on the slopes
  • Assistance to winter sportsmen in case of deficiencies and problems with ski equipment
  • Commitment to environmental protection; educating winter sports enthusiasts about the importance of protected areas and sustainable skiing

Easily recognizable by their red and black clothing, the DSV ski patrol officers are on hand throughout the season to offer advice and assistance to winter sports enthusiasts, provide tips or accompany unsure skiers on their way down to the valley. Skiing and snowboarding are individual sports, but snow lovers can only enjoy the pleasures of winter sports if they behave like team members. The DSV ski patrol therefore pays particular attention to mutual consideration.

Quick as a flash and always present

The specially trained DSV ski patrollers employed by the "Ski Safety Foundation" (SIS) during the winter months are also all volunteer mountain patrollers. In this capacity, they are responsible for rescue services in the event of injuries.

Contact

Whoever needs help or has to call, can reach the DSV ski patrol continuously during operating hours in the mountain rescue station Hebelhof under the telephone number 07676 / 321 or via the rescue service under the number 112, who will then immediately contact the DSV ski patrol.

Funding

While the more than 250 DSV ski patrollers nationwide make a major contribution to accident prevention on the secured slopes, their work naturally also involves costs. These are covered by the "Ski Safety Foundation" (SIS). The ARAG insurance group contributes significantly to the existence of the DSV ski patrol with grants of 500,000 euros per year.
